More than the game with the Boozer brothers

Turning their family’s story into hope for others

Cameron, Cayden and Carmani Boozer are partnering with NMDPSM to help more patients with blood cancers and disorders get the life-saving transplants they need. By inspiring more young adults to join the NMDP RegistrySM and helping families facing the financial burden of transplant, they’re working to bring hope to more patients searching for a cure.

This is bigger than basketball

The Boozer brothers know the power of cell therapy because they’ve lived it.

When Carmani was diagnosed with sickle cell as a baby, their family faced an uncertain future. At just 21 months old, Carmani received a blood stem cell transplant using Cameron and Cayden’s cord blood.

Today, the Boozer brothers are sharing their family’s story to help raise awareness for patients still searching for a donor and families facing barriers to treatment.

From understanding to action

Learn how matching works, why donor diversity matters and how you can help create more life-saving opportunities for patients.

A cure starts with a match

A blood stem cell transplant can cure or treat 75+ diseases, including leukemia, lymphoma and sickle cell disease. But before a transplant can happen, a patient needs a matching donor. Discover how matching works and why it can be more challenging for some patients to find the donor they need.

    Help change the odds

For patients like Cayden, finding a donor can be more challenging because patients are most likely to match someone with a similar ethnic background. Today, the NMDP Registry isn’t diverse enough to meet the needs of everyone who needs a transplant. Increasing representation on the registry helps close that gap and gives more people a chance at a cure.

Champions show up in every way

Not everyone can donate blood stem cells, but everyone can make an impact. By making a gift or fundraising, you support patients throughout their transplant journey and assist the blood stem cell donors who make it possible. Every dollar helps move more cures forward.

Our brother was cured of sickle cell disease by a blood stem cell transplant, and we want to share this part of our family’s history so we can raise awareness of the power of cell therapy.
