About us

We are a global nonprofit leader in cell therapy, helping save the lives of patients with blood cancers and disorders.

Our history

Since our founding in 1987, the world has evolved—and so have we. Throughout the years, we’ve been known by many names, including the National Marrow Donor Program® and Be The Match®. In early 2024, we changed our name to NMDPSM—a single, modernized brand that’s flexible enough to meet our ambitious future.

Mission and vision statements

Our Mission:

We save lives through cell therapy.

Our Vision:

Create a world where every patient can receive their life-saving cell therapy.

Leadership

NMDP is helmed by people who represent the best in their respective fields and truly live our mission. Our executive team, in collaboration with our board of directors, is charged with overseeing the implementation of our five-year strategic plan. This guiding vision is founded on advancing the cell therapy ecosystem, removing barriers to transplant and being a world-class partner.

Financial information

Every dollar we’re entrusted with brings us one step closer to providing life-changing treatment to all patients who need it. Part of our responsibility is tracking the funds we receive to ensure they’re being put to work to support our mission. Get a look at how we do that by reading our annual reports, which lay out the impact we’ve made over the years, learning more about how we fund patient assistance and reviewing our financial statements.
